Lewis Odell Case was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, to parents William Henry Case and Thelma Johnson Case. He was the second youngest of seven children - Juanita, Edith, Jody, Ola Mea, Gene, and Elvin. Odell grew up in the Wichita Falls area and moved to Freeport in his early adult years leaving the oilfields behind to make a better life for his children.
Odell worked for and retired from Dow Chemical after 28 years as an operator and foreman. He took great pride in his work and led many individuals to success in their work as well. Odell's work ethic was one of his greatest attributes.
Odell was the ultimate craftsman building 8 homes from the ground up. He was an artist with his hands. There was nothing he could not fix or build. He could tear a motorized vehicle down and put it back together like new. He used these skills to help others as often as he could.
He was an easy-going and fun loving man of integrity. Dancing, old country music, and back roads were some of his favorite pleasures in life. He kept a smile on his face and a song in his heart. If you watched closely, you could also see a skip in his step. He enjoyed traveling the country to unknown destinations. He delighted in hunting and the great outdoors. You could often find him quietly sitting in his rocking chair on the front porch enjoying a beautiful sunset.
Odell is survived by his wife Carolyn, brother Gene, sons Terry, James, Lionel, Billy and Darren, daughters Lafonda, Brenda, and Carol, daughter-in-laws Peggy, Barbara and Pamela, son-in-law Joe, 21 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Above all else, Odell loved, cared and provided for his family putting their needs above his own. His heart was big and he opened it wide. He was a loving, compassionate husband. Not only was he a daddy to his own children, he filled the void and was a daddy to others. He was looked up to, respected and honored by them all. His entire family is grateful to God for the years of service and selfless dedication he gave to us. He was a man of few words, but they were filled with wisdom and love.
Odell was a dedicated volunteer always giving of himself. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge of Brazoria. He was also a Scottish Right and Shriner. Odell gave his heart to Jesus and attended First Baptist Church in Angleton. He enjoyed and supported the children at Angleton Christian School. He loved to watch their Christmas plays and musicals.
