George was born August 17, 1949 in Elk City, OK, to Jess and Goldia Courtney. George moved to the Iowa Park area in the early 1970s. He was a simple man with a simple life. He was a hard worker; a good worker. George worked as a diesel mechanic for Darr Caterpillar for many years, but for the last 5 years he was independent. One of his favorite hobbies was attending swap meets.
George is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Gerry Courtney.
Survivors include: brothers; Glen and wife Phyllis, and Bill and wife Jonelle, nephew Clint Courtney, nieces Jessica Courtney and Wendy Clift all of Fort Cobb, OK. Aunt Helen Chester of Elk City, OK, uncle Floyd Courtney and wife Nita of Sayre, OK, best friend Gopher, special neighbors Mike and Cindy Jordan and their children Mickey and Mable, of Iowa Park, TX.
