Bessie Inez Chesher Vestal

A private family service will be conducted Monday, January 14, 2013, by Mr. Bill Bryan of Imperial, Nebraska. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park.

Mrs. Vestal was born January 20, 1920, in Electra, Texas to the late Lemuel Luther Chesher and Amma Mae Langfitt Chesher. She graduated from Electra High School in 1938. She married William David “Jack” Vestal, Jr. in Electra on July 20, 1938, and they made their home in Iowa Park for the next 75 years. She was a homemaker, member of the Church of Christ, serving as an elder’s wife, and Sunday school teacher.

Mrs. Vestal loved to travel and went on many trips with Jack to Europe, South Africa, Alaska and Hawaii. She loved her family and watching her grandchildren grow up. She had a delicious sense of humor.

She is survived by her husband, Jack and their three children, Virginia Ann Brandt and husband, Marvin of Iowa Park, Lemuel David “Butch” Vestal and wife, Judy of Weatherford, Texas and Karen Sue Bradberry and husband, Jimmy of Iowa Park; grandchildren, Vanessa McGarry, Eddie Vestal, Alicia Vestal Purdy, Tim Bradberry, Charlie Bradberry, Penny Bradberry Waldrep, and Cherrie Bradberry. She is also survived by an older brother, George Chesher of Electra; thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Ivanette Hewitt and Jo Beighle of Skellyton, Texas, Lois Patton of Pampa, Texas and Ozie McClure of Anahuac, Texas; grandchildren, Amy Leora Bradberry and Marvin Joseph “Bodie” Brandt; great grandchild, Sierra Elizabeth Brandt.
