It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather Lawrence Eugene Allen, on Friday, August 6, 2021. Born in Sydney, NS to the late Charles and Hazel (Huestis) Allen, he grew up in Wallace, NS. He graduated from Tatamagouche High School, Teachers College in Truro, and then Dalhousie University becoming a pharmacist in 1962. His career spanned from Springhill to Whycocomagh and Inverness, NS.
Lawrence served as president of the Nova Scotia Pharmaceutical Society. He was also past Grand Night of the Knights of Columbus Council 4302 from 1969 to 1971. Lawrence was an avid self-taught fiddler, a fan of Celtic music and loved woodworking in his spare time.
Lawrence is predeceased by one brother, three sisters, one half brother, and three half sisters. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years Garrity (MacLeod), children Susan, Stephen (Linda), Don (Kim), Russell (Chantal), nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one brother, one sister, two half brothers, and one half sister.
There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will take place on Sunday August 8th in Inverness, NS.
