MACMASTER, Donald John, age 57 of Scotsville, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012. Born in Inverness on Sept 9, 1954, he was a son of Kay and Archie MacMaster; husband of Anne (MacDougall) MacMaster; father of Carla (Corey Palmer), Manitoba; Cheryl, Wolfville; Tyler, Scotsville; brother of: Jim (Mary), Calgary, Alta.; and Ron (Anita), Burlington, Ont.; sister, Jayne, Inverness. John was predeceased by mother and father in-law, Marjorie and Grant and brothers in law, Charlie MacDougall and Kevin Beaton. John was employed for many years as an instrumentation technician at NewPage and prior at the AECL (Heavy Water) plant. John’s work also took him to western Canada. John started school at Holy Family Convent School and was a graduate of Inverness Consolidated School and Nova Scotia Eastern Institute of Technology, now University of Cape Breton.
John was a proud father and husband and he received great joy and satisfaction in his life from his family and their accomplishments. John took on every job with a sense of responsibility, he was noted for his meticulous approach and craftsmanship and he completed what he started with a sense of pride. John had a great love and passion for the outdoors and all that it offered. He was an accomplished artist and photographer and he shared many of his photos and works with his family and friends. He took a great interest in his flower and vegetable gardens and had a passion for snowmobiles and 4-wheeling. He loved to share laughs and stories with his family and friends. Everyone was welcomed at John and Anne’s up on the hill in Scotsville.
Visitation Friday, March 16 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the Inverness Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Stella Maris Church in Inverness on Saturday, March 17. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
