

Born in Mabou Harbour on March 30, 1939, he was a son of the late Donald S. and Margaret (MacDonald) Beaton. He is survived by his wife, Monica, Mabou; children, Evan (Tammy) Beaton, Chester Basin; Laureen (Darrell) Nicholson, Elmsdale; grandchildren, Jordan and Erin; step grandson, Dustin; many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by siblings, Sally Boyle, Mabou; Mary Catherine (Tom) Glanman, Merigomish; Donnie, Mabou Harbour; Mary Florence “Flossie” Larade, Inverness; Christina (Ronald) MacDonald, Judique. He was predeceased by siblings, Alexander “Red”, Sandy, and Josie in infancy.
He was mostly known for his many years of mechanical work at Archie’s Service Station in Mabou. He repaired heavy equipment during the Wreck Cove project. He also fished and drove a school bus before retiring. A member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Mary’s Council, he was always willing to lend anyone a helping hand. He was selfless, honest and easy-going, with a great sense of humor and dry wit.
Visitation will be held in the Vestry St. Mary’s Church, Mabou , on Sunday, July 13th, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 14th at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Mabou, with Father Angus Morris officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
