Born February 3rd, 1938 in Roxbury, Massachusetts., she was a daughter of the late Murdock and Ann Lorraine (Geddes) MacPhail.
At the young age of 21 years, she married our father, the late Lauchie MacKinnon on September 11, 1959. Leaving the big city behind, she settled into farming life in East Lake Ainslie, and never looked back. Through the years she supported Dad on the farm, cared for our grandfather at home until he passed at the age of 99 years, raised her children, and opened her home to family and friends, far and wide many times over the years.
She was a 17 year employee of Inverary Manor, Inverness, where she worked as a Dietary Aid, and carried fond memories of her time spent there with her always.
Mom savored the simple things in life. A hot cup of tea, a good book, crossword puzzles, shopping trips, watching Jeopardy and classic movies. Although quiet by nature, no one enjoyed a good conversation more than she.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Daniel) Beaton, Mabou Ridge; son, David (Carol) MacKinnon, East Lake Ainslie; grandchildren, Zelena and Lake MacKinnon; sister, Grace Tompkins, Hudson Mass; numerous nieces and nephews here in Canada and the United States. She was predeceased by her husband, Lauchie "Davie" MacKinnon; brothers, Charlie and Russell MacPhail; sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) MacAulay and Lorraine MacMillan; and grandchild, Maira MacKinnon.
Visitation will be held in Alexander Grant United Church, East lake Ainslie from 10-10:45 a.m. on Saturday October 26th, with Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Alicia Cox celebrating. Burial in East Lake Ainslie Cemetery. Family flowers only.

Although we will miss her greatly, we find solace in the fact that she and Dad will now be able to sit on the veranda, over-looking beautiful Lake Ainslie, together for eternity.
