We, the family are saddened to announce the passing of Dan Allan MacLeod on September 27, 2014, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. Born on April 15, 1929, in Grand River, he was a son of the late Jacob and Mary Viola (Frazier) MacLeod. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Port Hood. Dan worked in the woods for many years, loved working on his car and of course, having a cup of tea. Dad was a very kind-hearted man who would do so much for many. He loved getting visits from all his family and friends. He loved his children very much. Dan is survived by brothers, Robert (Irene) MacLeod, Freddy (Margaret) Sampson, Johnny MacLeod, and Alexander (Mary) MacLeod; sisters, Alice (Ray) DeBaie and Rose (Roger) Sampson. children, Bernie (Rose) MacLeod, Ruth (Lewis) MacDonald, Colleen (Graham) Mombourquette, Mary (Wes) Jardine, Allan MacLeod, Stanley (Angela) MacLeod, Linda MacLeod, Nancy (Mike) MacLeod, Pauline (Stephen) Richard MacLeod, 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren whom he loved very much. Dan was predeceased by his wife, Mary Margaret "Maggie" MacLeod (2014); daughter, Anita MacLeod; brother, Dan J. MacLeod; and siste,r Bertha Sampson. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, in Port Hood and Area Resting Place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Peter’s Church on Thursday, October 2, at 11a.m. with Father Vincent van Zutphen officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery Fund, Port Hood.
