“Say not, in grief, that she has gone, but give thanks that she was yours.” It is with profound sadness, yet hearts filled with so much love and many cherished memories, that we announce the death of our beloved mother, matriarch, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend – Catherine Margaret MacIsaac on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the age of 94. Kaye was the last surviving member of her family. Born and raised in Mabou to the late Angus and Mary Ann (MacInnis) MacIsaac in 1926, she later moved to Inverness where she made the Red Rows her home. Kaye was the epitome of a mother, loved and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. In truth, Grandma Kaye was everyone’s grandma and she wore the title with the utmost grace and pride. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and was famous for her homemade bread, biscuits and dressing – you would never leave Kaye’s hungry. Kaye was a truly kind, hard-working, and humble woman with a deep faith in God and a love for her family and friends that was immeasurable. She was a proud member of the Stella Maris Parish and enjoyed attending mass, visiting the chapel, playing bingo and volunteering at the Inverary Manor – which she did up until the very end. Kaye had a wonderful smile that could light up a room and a hug that always made you feel at ease. She always enjoyed a good visit and a great cup of tea – she liked hers half milk, half tea. Kaye will be missed most by her children, Margie (George) Cameron, Angie (Cathy) MacIsaac, Josephine (Billy) MacDonnell, Deborah Beaton, and James (Jennifer) MacIsaac. She will be greatly missed by her twelve grandchildren, Cathy, Roy, George, Tracey, Billy-Joe, James, Candace, Mary-Jo, Karen, Donovan, Alexandra and Catherine as well as her great grandchildren, who have all grown up knowing the special love of Grandma Kaye. She was predeceased by her parents, Angus and Mary Ann (MacInnis) MacIsaac; brothers, Jim MacIsaac, John ‘Horn’ MacIsaac; sisters, Mary Lizzie MacDonnell, Annie Mae MacEachern and identical twin sister, Annie Margaret MacLellan; special nephew, Rannie MacLellan; son-in-law, George Cameron; daughter-in-law, Cathy MacIsaac; great-granddaughter, Carlie Brianna MacDonnell and special nieces and nephews. Due to the current circumstances we are unable to hold a funeral. The family requests all donations be made, in her name, to the Inverary Manor, Inverness. A funeral mass and celebration of Kaye’s life will be held on Saturday July 18 at 1 p.m. in Stella Maris Church, Inverness. In this difficult time, let us take comfort together in the knowledge that God has embraced Kaye with open arms for a life well-lived. She truly leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and family. “Honour her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:31
