Born in Mabou January 26th 1929, she was a daughter of the late Malcom and Cassie Mac Donald.
Predeceased by her brothers, Finley Rodney, Alastair; sisters, Annie Mae, Betty. She is survived by 3 brothers, Pat, Leo, Herby; and 2 sister, Christena and Jenny.
Catherine left her home in Mabou for the states in 1948 returning home in 1958 to marry the love of her life, Alex “Grace” settling in Sudbury to raise her family until retirement brought her home to Mabou in 1990.
She is also predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Alex MacNeil, she is survived by her children Danita, Brian, Jackie and Ian; grandmother to Victoria, Danielle, Alison, Rebecca, Sandy and Kendall
Great grandmother (grandma2) to Sophia, Macie, Kelton, Keegan, Ethan, Ella ,Emmett, Eiah and Eliyah.
Mom was deeply devoted to her family took enormous pride in the homes she made in Sudbury and Mabou, always welcoming those that visited with a cup of tea, a good meal or a little gillic. She loved listening to her scotch music and filling her home with love and laughs, many good times are held in our memories.
Mom was a classy lady with strong determine and a special friend to many.
Shopping was among one if her favourite pastime along with being outdoors and working around the yard. She was known to travelling the countryside in search of a wild flower or plant.
She was devoted to her faith she found enormous comfort in praying the holy rosary.
Her passing has left an unfillable gap in the hearts of her loved ones.
Visitation to be held Tuesday October 10th, 2023 from 6-8 pm in the vestry St. Mary’s Church, Mabou. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday October 11th 2023, at 11:00 am with Father Andrew Gillies officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
