Catherine Ann Gillis (Cameron) passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2015, in Inverary Manor, Inverness. She was born on February 10th, 1926 in Port Hood to Angus and Sarah (Rankin),Cameron. Catherine Ann worked for many years at the cafeteria at Mabou Consolidated School and
later at Mary’s Hill Home in Mabou. She enjoyed playing crib and was a regular at the Monday night card plays in Mabou. She was also an avid Scottish music fan and particularly enjoyed the Tuesday Night Ceilidhs at the Mabou Hall where you could often hear her recognizable hoot when the music
really got going. Catherine Ann is survived by her daughter, Bernadine (Blaise MacNeil), Kingsville,Ont.; grandchildren, Andrew, Allan and Chantal; sister, Kathleen O’Neil, Boston, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, John Bernard Gillis; son, Allan Gillis; brothers, Danny (Tillie)( Burnaby, B.C.), Joe (Georgina) (Port Hood), John Archie (Maureen) (New Westminster, B.C.), Alexander and John Colin in childhood; and two sisters who died in infancy.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the
vestry of St. Mary’s Church, Mabou. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 9th at 11:00 a.m.
in St. Mary’s Church, Mabou with Fr. Angus Morris officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at a
later date. Donations may be made to the Inverary Manor, Inverness.
