Born on January 19, 1922, in South West Margaree, she was a daughter of the late Angus A. Gillis and Elizabeth Ann Gillis.
Annie is survived by her sister, Catherine Margaret "Peggy" MacIntyre of New Waterford; her stepchildren, Mary I. and Jimmy Gillis, Mike and Marion MacIsaac, Kevin and Margie MacIsaac , Karel Mac Isaac , Bernie and Rose Anne MacIsaac, and Lorraine and Andre Rocheleau.
Annie will be missed by several grandchildren and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews as well as many grand nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Colin MacIsaac; her parents; sisters, Catherine (Katie) MacIsaac, Margaret MacArthur, John Charlie Gillis, Alex R Gillis "Big Alex", Donald Archie (D. A.) Gillis; children in infancy, John, Mary and Lexena.
After several years of working in Montreal and Boston Annie returned to Cape Breton in 1976 and settled in Dunvegan. She was an active member of St Margaret’s Parish Broad Cove.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, in Inverness Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Broad Cove with Fr. Duncan MacIsaac officiating,.Burial will take place at a later date in the parish cemetery.
