MacDougall Ainslie Howard– at age 80 years, passed away on Wednesday August 18, 2010, at home in East Lake Ainslie. Born in East lake Ainslie on October 28, 1929, he was a son of the late Dan John and Minnie Margaret (MacKay) MacDougall. Ainslie was a member of Alexander Grant United Church and a Charter member of the Lake Ainslie Volunteer Fire Department.
Ainslie lived in Ontario briefly in his younger years, but returned to Lake Ainslie to care for his parents and never left.
He was employed at various jobs and eventually worked with the Strait Regional School Board where he retired in 1994 after 25 yrs of service.
Ainslie was known as a man who could fix anything. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in the community.
He loved to read, tinker and spend time with family.
Ainslie is survived by his wife Peggy, his children, Donna (Ed) MacLean, Truro; Gwynne (Sharon), Inverness; Ainslie Ian (Laura), East Lake Ainslie; Grandchildren; Alissa, Ryan, Allan, Brennan, and Maggie, brother; Lauchlin (Vivian) and sisters Florence, Myra and Marie (Donnie). In addition to his parents Ainslie was predeceased by brothers, Tom, Dunbar and Ian, sisters; Josie, Rosa, Margaret, Diane and Mary C, Mary H in infancy. Cremation has taken place, visitation will be Monday August 23, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Inverness Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held from Alexander Grant United Church, East Lake Ainslie; Route 395 on Tuesday August 24, at 2 p.m.., Rev Donna Tourneur celebrating, with burial to follow in East Lake Ainslie Cemetery. Donations in memory of Ainslie may be made to Canadian Diabetic Association or to Alexander Grant United Church, East Lake Ainslie.
He will be dearly missed by friends, family and the community of East Lake Ainslie that he loved so much.
