Willie was educated in the Cahokia School District, in Illinois, near St. Louis. He accepted Jesus Christ into his life as his personal Savior at an early age.
Willie was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Lisa A. Taylor, on February 1, 1991.
Willie worked in various roles in transportation services, including a truck driver. He worked at Eli Lilly & Company for 32 years, in Indianapolis, retiring in March 2005.
Willie was the ultimate outdoorsman, his passions included fishing, hunting, gardening, and yardwork. He was also an avid sports fan that enjoyed watching all sports, both college and professional as well as men and women.
Willie walked into heaven on July 5, 2019 at IU Health University Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Mattie Taylor, Sr. and his sister, Miriam A. Harmon.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Lisa A. Taylor; son, Willie J. (Gwendolyn) Taylor, Jr.; daughters, Andrea (Jackey) Evans, Crystal (Curtis) Evans, Carlicia Porter; precious grandchildren, Quenteria (Brandon) Grimes, Jason Evans, Tronae Leonard, Bradford (Shamica) Sheffield, Jalynn Evans; great-grandchildren, Brakyia Grimes, Brylei Grimes; five brothers, Lawrence (Shirley) Taylor Jr., Edgar (Patricia) Taylor, George Taylor Sr., Robert (Sherry) Taylor, Charles Taylor Sr.; half-sister, Margaret (Johnnie) Watkins; uncle, Theodis Gladney; aunts, Lennie Martin, Roxie Scott; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
