Tom was born to parents Edgar and Gertrude Mueller on July 21st, 1942. He graduated from high school in Indianapolis and completed his bachelor’s degree at DePauw University. He worked many years at Sears before following a calling to serve his country. Tom spent 31 years in the Wisconsin Air National Guard Air Refueling Wing as a Master Sergeant and was also stationed in Egypt for Operation Desert Storm. He loved his church community and served as the treasurer and as Chair of the Endowment Group for 10 years.
Tom had no children of his own and was like a wonderful second father to all of his nieces and nephews.
Tom loved all types of music and played the piano and organ, and was in his high school band. Tom spent many summers at his family’s lake cottage in Minnesota. He enjoyed boating, traveling, and riding and maintaining motorcycles, including Honda Goldwings and, later in life, Can-Am Spyders. He formed many lifelong friendships with the Spyder Club.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Gertrude Mueller, brothers John and James Mueller, sister-in-law Catherine Mueller, nephew Glenn Mueller, and nephew-in-law Dale Williamson. He is survived by nieces Ellen Polotko, Barbara Newman (Paul), Lynn Smith (Mark), Dawne Williamson; nephews Christopher Mueller and James Mueller, Jr.; niece-in-law Janet Mueller-Alsup; grand-nieces Lauren Smith (Kory Johanning), Keanna Mueller, and Kaylee Newman; great-nephews Ivan Polotko and Jack Newman; and many loving friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M, on Monday, March 21st, 2022, at the Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery in the Gothic Chapel. Pastor Sarah Nowak of Pleasant View Lutheran Church will officiate, with burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, it is Tom’s wish that donations be made to the American Cancer Society and the Salvation Army.
