76 years of age, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Community East Hospital due to Lung Cancer. Terry Lee, as he was affectionately called, was born April 8, 1941 in Lebanon, Tennessee to the late Irene (Gilliam) Coe and Clayborne Carter. He was preceded in death by his older brother William (Billy) Carter. Terry Lee was educated in Indianapolis, Indiana at Harry E. Wood High School after his parents migrated north.
Terry Lee served in the Army from 1959 - 1962 and spent time in Germany during his service. Afterwards, he worked 31 years for Ford Motor Company, within various positions, and was active in the United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Workers (UAW). He loved working with his hands and did this often by building decks, gazebos, garages, and houses with his friends and family, he loved taking pictures and was constantly behind the camera, he also loved sports and rooting for the Indianapolis Colts. He loved to garden, a passion his mother passed down, but his greatest passion was fishing with friends and his children. Terry Lee leaves to cherish in his loving memory, his children, Timothy (Stacie) Carter Sr., James Carter, Kaleena Carter, Katriece (Willis) Carter-Barrett and step son Justin Barnett; grandchildren, Ashanti Carter, Tracia Carter, TJ Carter, Tyrell Carter, and step grandchildren; Deon Parker, Tyeasha Parker, Robert Anderson, and Gregory Anderson, a host of nieces and nephews to whom he loved as his own; and a host of relatives and friends.
