Sandi was truly the light of any room she walked in to. She had an infectious smile and laugh that left you happier each time you experienced it. She loved with her entire soul and she radiated positivity in ways that will never be forgotten. She loved her family and friends with all she had and her favorite famous title was Cha Cha. She was the most incredibly proud grandmother to her favorite two grandbabies, Westin and Renner. Sandi was a stranger to no one and a friend to everyone. She was a gift to this earth that made it a better place. We know she will never be too far and forever the magical wind beneath our wings.
Sandi attended Shortridge High School, and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1964. She followed with Normal College and graduated from Indiana University. She was a teacher with Indianapolis Public Schools for many years. She was also the director of the Peers Program in the Washington Township Schools and a tutor with Horizon's Student Tutoring.
She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and the Indiana Cosmetology Association.
Sandi was a dancer for the the Pan American Games. She performed a liturgical dance for the Bishop at Lutheran Church. She was a cheerleading coach at North Central High School and one of the first aerobics instructors in Indianapolis.
Sandi is survived by her husband, Jeff Roberts; her daughter Brooke Roberts Stevning (Greg Stevning); her sister Penny Lovell (Bob), her brother Barney Gerdts (Bonnie); her grandchildren Westin and Renner Stevning and her cousin Buffy Boulet (Larry).
Sandi was preceded in death by her daughter Shannon Zike; her parents Carl and Joan Gerdts; and her sister Judy Ripley.
A memorial service for Sandi will be held Friday, April 25, 2025 at 2:00 PM at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46260.
