Robert attended Indianapolis Public School #23 for Elementary and Indianapolis Public School #17 for Junior High School. Robert graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1953 and then enlisted into the United States Military Army division on August 24, 1953. He served in the Military during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged on August 23, 1961.
On September 7, 1963, Robert was united in Holy Matrimony to Jamesetta (Pipken) Malone. They were married for 26 years until his wife (Jimmy) preceded him in death and in this union two children were born: One son Robert William III, and one daughter Tina Denise. Beverly (Pipken) Pillow and Pamela (Pipken) Forte raised and loved by their mother and Robert Malone, Jr.
There is Nothing like Family… the familiar saying and foundation in which our parents laid down and established by creating traditions that will continue onto the future generations.
Robert was employed at General Motors Allison Gas Turbine where he worked for twenty – seven years and retired as a Foreman Supervisor. While working for General Motors Robert continued his education by attending Indiana Vocational Technical College and completed the Leadership and Management training program. He enjoyed his retirement for 29 years! He would let you know he retired longer than he worked and that was a blessing. Robert was a hardworking and dedicated employee. He had a strong hard work ethic and what he hoped others would learn from him is to never give up or quit... you must keep at it and do your personal best. He enjoyed taking family vacation road trips and later he traveled with friends and his favorite vacation place was Las Vegas, Nevada which he would frequent all the time.
Robert will always be remembered by his humor and dedication to his beloved family. He enjoyed making you laugh. His funny conversations with the grandkids made him relatable and one Cool Papaw or Papa always leaving his children and grandchildren with a life lesson at the end of most conversations. Oh, we will miss those conversations. His wisdom priceless. His never-ending commitment to being a caregiver to his family members in their time of need showed us his tender side and huge heart for those he loved.
Dad you fought the good fight and came back stronger than ever and give us another year with you. However, this last time you told us you were tired and with the love you gave us we gave you that love back until your last breath, and you entered paradise peacefully.
