During his youth, his strong faith was evident by his frequent participation in church camps and events. Bob graduated from LaVille High School in 1989 and from Ball State University in 1993 with a degree in Accounting. Blessed with a keen intellect and a strong work ethic, Bob quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the youngest Vice Presidents at Corus Bank in Chicago. However, he also possessed an irrepressible soul with a love of the outdoors. This longing for adventure led him to leave Chicago for Colorado, where he worked on the mountains and rapids of the great Rocky Mountain Range. It also took him around the world on his many travels to exotic places where he happily embraced the local foods and customs.
As the years passed, Bob had a strong desire to return to his home state of Indiana. This led him to take a job at the Department of Defense and settle down in his little white house in Indianapolis where he took great pride in his home, especially the extravagant gardens and landscaping he diligently maintained. His impressive skill at horticulture would be on full display each spring as his yard would burst into a dazzling explosion of colors and fragrances that would last well into late fall. To say Bob had a green thumb would be a gross understatement. The man was an artist. Bob was also a musicophile and was well-known for his encyclopedic knowledge of musical artists across all genres. He took great pleasure in, and often traveled long distances to attend many music festivals and shows with his friends. Of all his numerous and varied talents, perhaps Bob’s greatest gift was his ability to develop relationships with people from all walks of life; relationships that would last a lifetime.
He was a soft-spoken, kind, and gentle soul with a generosity that knew no limits. Those who knew him knew that he would offer up his support, time, money, and even the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it without a moment’s hesitation. He possessed a rare genuineness and a loving heart and would go out of his way to make everyone feel comfortable, included, and loved. He built a community of friends from all over who are collectively mourning their great loss.
After years of searching, Bob finally found ‘the one’, the great love of his life when he married Erica Ckuj. The two built a life together and a family that included two smart and beautiful daughters Maryanna and Tillie. His wanderlust had given way to the joy, pride, and love he had for his family. Bob is survived by his wife Erica Miller (née Ckuj), his daughters Maryanna and Tillie, his parents Don and Sandy Miller, his brother Mike Miller OD (Amy), his sister Terri Tschaenn (Mark), many special nieces and nephews, and the thousands of friends and relatives grateful for the privilege of being a part of his wondrous life on this earth. He will be greatly missed by all.
