Rita M. Beatty
22 November, 1932 – 6 October, 2023
IN THE CARE OF
Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery
Rita was born on November 22, 1932 to Evans and Altha Jones. The youngest of eight children, she was called home by the Good Lord and departed this life on October 6, 2023.
Rita was baptized in the Catholic faith at Saint Rita’s Church when she was a baby. She attended grade school and high school, graduated both, and on November 10, 1951, she married the love of her life, Carl E. Beatty. From that union, Rita birthed four beautiful children, Carla, Michael, Stephen, and Carmen, but sadly, after 24 years of marriage, she became a widow.
Rita decided to go back to school, studied cosmetology, and became a cosmetologist. For years she dressed hair and also worked a second job until she finished raising her children. Even after being diagnosed with cancer, she didn’t give up. The Good Lord saw her fight and helped her to become cancer free.
Rita was a good Christian that liked to devote her time to the Church. She used to sing in the choir at Saint Rita’s Church. She belonged to the Ladies Court #97 and to the Legion of Mary. In 2005 Rita joined Holy Angels Catholic Church and loved it there. Her most enjoyable times were attending Mass on Saturday and having dinner with her family on Sunday.
Rita was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl E. Beatty; a son, Michael Beatty; a daughter, Carmen Taylor; and granddaughter, Jenea Perkins. She is survived by daughter Carla Gerton; son, Stephen Beatty; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
