Phyllis Jeanne Elliott

Phyllis Jeanne Elliott, age 94, of Carmel, Indiana peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021. Phyllis was born June 25, 1927 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Orpha (Jennings) Pettijohn and Ward B. Pettijohn. Loving mother of 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Phyllis is survived by son Ed Elliott (Karen); daughter Lucy Schaub; and son Rick Elliott (Cynthia); granddaughter Leslie Buckhorn, grandson Mark Buckhorn (Tiana), grandson Josh Elliott, granddaughter Anne Bearman (Ted), grandson Anthony Schaub, granddaughter Kristi Lee, granddaughter Laura Elliott, granddaughter Amy Rogneby (Paul) and grandson Ben Elliott. Great-grandchildren Kevin, Kaiah, Bracen, Julia, Lydia, Olivia, Evan, Alethia, Judah, Lael, Hayley, Collin, Jamie, and Jackson. Phyllis was preceded in death by daughter Kathy Buckhorn, son-in-law Kent Buckhorn, son-in-law Carl Schaub, father Ward B. Pettijohn and mother Orpha Pettijohn. Phyllis studied at Butler and Indiana Universities in the mid 1940's. In 1968 she was hired as Director of Volunteer Services at Winona Hospital, a position she expanded to include Patient Representative Services in 1980. She retired from Winona in 1992. She had been a longtime member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and cherished the relationships in her bible study classes. Phyllis loved spending summers in Leland, Michigan and they remained some of her fondest memories.
