Obituary of Paul Wadsworth Johnson
Paul W. Johnson, who cherished both Indianapolis, Indiana, and Bonita Springs, Florida, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, after a 30 year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 2, 1947, the oldest child of Scott and Margaret Johnson. Paul attended and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1969. Paul had a distinguished career in banking, starting as a Branch Manager at Merchants bank, and retiring as an Executive Vice President for National City/PNC. He earned many awards and distinctions professionally, including being asked to consult for the Department of Education in Washington DC, but was most proud of the respect and admiration of his many co-workers through the years. Paul had many hobbies and interests. He had love-hate relationships with Notre Dame football and the game of golf. He enjoyed cruising in his Corvettes, playing Bocce Ball, or simply getting out and socializing with friends. He also ate like a child, refused to eat his vegetables, and had a long-term obsession with black and white cookies. Outgoing and funny, Paul was liked and remembered by all who met him. Paul was affectionately referred to as “The Patriarch”. A title earned from a lifetime of love, leadership, and devotion to his family. He adored his 3 daughters, Sarah, Kate, and Molly. In 2001 he married Carol Damico, the love of his life and steadfast companion for 21 years. He was a loving Grandfather to Max, Eleanor, and Samuel. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Molly Johnson; sister, Gayle Scott; parents, Scott and Margaret Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Carol Damico, daughter, Sarah (Chuck) Pollard; daughter, Kate Croswell; brother, Mark (Laurie) Johnson; his grandchildren, Max Pollard, Eleanor Pollard, and Samuel Johnson. Heartfelt appreciation is extended to his caretaker and friend, Jeff Rohrman. A visitation for Paul will take place on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Feeney Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E. 71st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46220. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church, 11441 Hague Road, Fishers, IN 46038.
