Patricia Wright Langdon, 82, passed away into Heaven after a lengthy battle with illnesses March 24, 2022, at Community North Hospital with two of her sons at her bedside. Patricia was born on August 25, 1939 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Taylor Otho and Carolyn (Bassett) Wright.
After graduating from Elgin High School (IL) ‘Pat’ attended the University of Missouri where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. During her senior year abroad in Spain, she connected with her high school sweetheart, Michael J. Langdon, who was stationed in Germany with the USAF. They fell in love, were married on September 1, 1960, in New York City, and returned to Germany for an additional year.
Pat and Mike arrived in Indianapolis in 1964 with two sons, Michael W., and John A. Their youngest son Samuel B. was born in 1971. Patricia is a baptized, born-again believer in Jesus Christ and modeled a life of thankfulness and generosity. She was very passionate to serve the needs of those less fortunate in the Indianapolis/Marion County Community. Her giving spirit and positive impact on kids and underprivileged families in the community have been a sense of ease to her own family for her loss.
Pat was always involved in her church’s outreach and invested her time to multiple community charity organizations. While a member of Second Presbyterian Church, she served as volunteer coordinator for the Indianapolis Great Banquet. She also loved serving for over two decades (10,000 recorded volunteer service hours) in Indianapolis Children’s Bureau Auxiliary. As president of the Auxiliary (1985-86) she was described as a “strong and tactful leader with a good sense of humor.” She was also an Auxiliary Hoosier (RCA) Dome tour guide as well as a member of Daughters of American Revolution (DAR).
In addition to her parents, Patricia was sadly predeceased by son John in 1993 and a brother, Taylor (Bud) Wright. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 61 years, are son, Michael W. Langdon and wife Amanda of Irvine CA, and son, Samuel B. Langdon of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Brittany Barkley (Matthew), Kendall Carver (Blaine), Molly Rasmussen (Joseph) and Samantha Langdon; grandsons, Lieutenant Luke Langdon (Claire) and Ben Langdon; great-grandchildren, John, Jackson, Bella, Sophia, and Chloe; a brother, John B. Wright (Susie) of Austin, TX; sister-in-law Patricia Wright of Chicago, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews whom ‘Aunt Pat’ also loved.
