Norman Eugene McCarty, 82 of Indianapolis passed away on August 23rd, 2018. He was born on July 26th, 1936 in Shelbyville, son of Dallas and Lorene McCarty. Norman graduated from Cathedral High School in 1954 and was a life-long parishioner of Little Flower Catholic Church. He met and married the love of his life, Ann Doyle on June 23rd, 1956 and the couple had 3 children, Jeanette (Brian) Corrigan, Scott (Eran) McCarty and Marianna McCarty. He was the owner and operator of Dixie Metal Spinning Company. After retiring, Norman was a volunteer at Riley Hospital for Children for 22 years and enjoyed making birdhouse kits and other toys for the children. He enjoyed fishing, travelling and camping with his family. Norman was preceded in death by his parents. He will be sadly missed by his wife, children, 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 30th from 4 to 8 PM at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N. Shadeland Ave in Indianapolis. Funeral Mass will be held at the Little Flower Catholic Church, 4720 E. 13th St on Friday, August 31st at 10 AM with burial at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Shelbyville. Norman's family asks that in lieu of flowers, that donations in his name be made to the Riley Hospital Child Life, the American Cancer Society or the Little Flower Catholic Church.
