Nelcie Jane Dendy was born on January 23, 1933 to William Edgar Oliver and Bonnie Canova Johnson Oliver. She had four sisters: Vivian Oliven, Wanda Ayers, Geneva Brooks, and her surviving sister Sidney Jaggers; and five brothers: John, Herschel, Thelvin, Thurman and Frank Oliver. She also had four siblings that died as infants: Mary Frances, Jimmy, Ray, and Charles. Her birth place was Ozark, Arkansas but she was raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
It is there that she met Norris Dendy. They shared 66 wonderful years together. She leaves behind her husband and four children: Deidra (Larry) Davis, Brent Dendy, Denise (Terry) Pritchard, and Kimberly Dendy; eight grandchildren: Mia, Nicholas (2017), Devon, Monique, Bryce, Megan, Shea, and Spencer; great grandchildren: Braylon, Amya, Nicholas II, Reagan, Naomi, and William; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Nelcie was affectionately known as Janie. She was Norris’s soul mate and they mirrored each other in so many ways. Janie had a sense of humor with funny comebacks and stories about everything. She was very compassionate and selfless. While living in Thailand, she was involved in the children’s orphanage and frequently brought food to feed the children. Janie was a member of the Officers Wives Club where she coordinated social functions. She enjoyed all music. Janie was very passionate about life and her family. She loved to cook, especially for family gatherings and holiday events. Everyone that visited her home was welcomed and treated like family. Janie easily befriended strangers and touched a lot of hearts.
