passed away April 16, 2010. She was born in South Dakota and lived in Texas before marrying Kenneth Laurence Ogle, Jr., a 5th generation Hoosier, in 1944.
Penny was active in Indiana political life, volunteered for several organizations, collected "The Hoosier Group" paintings and was a docent at the Heron Museum of Art. She was active in and a member of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Opera, the Eiteljorg Museum, Life Member of the Indianapolis Junior League, The Indianapolis Garden Club, The Woodstock Club and Christ Church Cathedral. She orchestrated and supervised the first and still ongoing Osteoporosis Research Study at Indiana University Medical Center under the direction of Dr. Conrad Johnston and Dr. Sprague Gardiner.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth L. Ogle, Jr. in 1980 and by her second husband, John J. Weldon in 1997. Survivors include her daughter Andrea Ogle Lakian, her son Kenneth L. Ogle, III, her brothers James C. Penn and Richard Lee Penn, four grandchildren, five step grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her two beloved dogs.
