Obituary of Mary Ann Lauck
Mary Ann Lauck, Passed away quietly at home surrounded by family on November 27th, 2018 after a long illness. A 1945 graduate of Shortridge High School, she attended William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri and Butler University. Mary Ann’s long and fulfilling life ended where it began - a genuine and legitimate Daughter of Indianapolis. In between, as a military spouse, she lived in numerous places across the country and raised her 7 children before returning to the great city. The stamp of Indianapolis on Mary Ann’s life include National Register of Historic Places: Wasson’s, the Indianapolis Athletic Club, Shortridge High School, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Circle Theater (where as a teenager she saw Frank Sinatra) and Fort Benjamin Harrison – all of which figured at one point or the other in her biography. Mary Ann belonged to several groups including the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a dedicated volunteer including delivering Meals on Wheels for many years. She had been active in church activities at a variety of Catholic parishes during her life and enjoyed reading, antiques, quilting, and quiet lakeside living. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and was steadfast in her faith. She was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Sylvan Bush and her husband of 59 years Jack Lauck who passed in 2007. Mary Ann and Jack met near Monument Circle in 1946—and never looked back. She is survived by a brother Don Bush of California, and her seven children Carole (Lauck) Clark (John W.); John Lauck (Lura); James Lauck (Kathy); Joseph Lauck (Julie); Paul Lauck (Carol Sue); Mary G. (Lauck) Barr; and Anne (Lauck) Mills (Joe IV). Mary Ann has 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Mary Ann will be remembered as a gracious, poised, loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend who took delight in every aspect of her life.
