Obituary of Marcus B. Ward
Marcus B Ward was born to Darryl Ward and Karen Montgomery on September 10, 1987, in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a child, Marcus loved to use his imagination and would dress up in his “Sunday’s Best” and role play as a Car Salesman and an Ace Hardware worker. Marcus loved to play videos games into the wee hours of the morning, watch television with his sister, hang outside with his friends, and shoot hoops. He was also a part of a basketball league at Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he was able to home in on his skills and love for the game. Although Marcus wasn't too fond of school, he loved going just to show off his clothes and look fresh for the ladies. There would be many times where he would talk his mother into taking him to get a fresh haircut, before school even started. Not to mention, he just had to have the coldest shoes on his feet. As an adult...Marcus loved shooting pool, going bowling with his dad, listening to music, painting things around the house, and playing Spades with his friends and family. Surprisingly, Marcus also had a love for “cooking” and was one of the best grillers in the family. He found joy in watching others eat his food and that made him feel very accomplished. The one thing that he enjoyed the most though, was spending time with his family and making memories with his daughter, Trinity. In November of 2023, Marcus decided to move to Texas to be closer to his daughter. In doing so, he was able to share his knowledge of basketball with her, and this helped her develop her skills for the Junior Varsity team. They also enjoyed hanging out at the pool, going out to eat, and enjoying the entertainment that Texas had to offer. When asked how it was going in his new city, he said “Hey sis! It’s going pretty cool-I like it! I don't see me moving back at all!!” On Friday August 9th, 2024, at the age of 36 years old, God called his son home because his mansion in Heaven was ready for him. His infectious smile, love for his family, and generous spirit will be sorrowfully missed. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Betty J Montgomery and Maggie Smithson, and his uncle, Keith Benton. His family that will be left cherishing his memories include his daughter, Trinity Renee Ward (Rhonda Lately); father, Darryl Ward; mother, Karen Montgomery; sister, Tara Riley; niece, Saqarra Prysock, and grandfather, Melvin C Montgomery. He will also leave behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A visitation for Marcus will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
