Larry Philip Feltman 80, of Markleville, passed away on Sunday, November 12th, 2023. He was born in Indianapolis, IN to Lawrence J. Feltman and Rita Feltman on May 7th, 1943. As a youth, Larry was active in the Boy Scouts and developed his love of all things mechanical, helping his father in the garage and spending many hours assisting a local farmer work the land. Larry graduated Cathedral High School in Indianapolis where he played the clarinet and was a member of the marching band. He continued his education at Purdue University, studying engineering before enlisting in the United States Navy. He completed two deployments aboard the USS Richard E. Byrd (DDG-23), a Charles F. Adams-class guided missile destroyer as an electronics and communications specialist. Upon returning, Larry spent an additional 5 years serving in the Naval Reserves while working alongside his father at the family printing business, Phoenix Press. He moved on to spend several years working in quality control at Jenn Air Corporation. His entrepreneurial spirit called him to found and operate Service Hardware Company (Servco), growing the retail hardware store to 3 locations before deciding to exit the business and fulfill his dream of living in the country and experience the farming lifestyle. Larry started collecting and working on old tractors and farm equipment, carrying out his passion for trying to understand the inner working of everything mechanical. He was a master at fixing things and quick to serve as a handyman to friends and family as his work ethic was beyond reproach. Although, to the chagrin of those that engaged his services, they would quickly find his perfectionism often slowed the progress of delivering the finished product. When you could get him to put down his tools, Larry enjoyed a good cookout and spending time with his family boating, sailing, and engaging in watersports.
Larry was preceded in death by Valerie Ann J. Feltman, and son, Michael L. Feltman. He is survived by son, Wayne L. Feltman; son, Richard J. (Jean) Feltman; daughter, Cindy L. Feltman Angulo Rood; Sister, Anne Leighton Fehlinger; grandchildren, Emily and Sarah Feltman, Kadyn and Jordan Angulo.
It was Larry's wishes that in lieu of a funeral, celebration of life ceremony, flowers and gifts to family that those that feel compelled to do something please make a donation to a US Veteran's Charity or Parkinson's Research Charity of their liking.
