Obituary of Kimberly Jean Mays
Kimberly J. Mays, 51 of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday September 14th, 2023. Kimberly was born in East Chicago Indiana to Jacob and Rachel Campbell on July 21st, 1972. She graduated from East Chicago Central in 1990. She married Michael T. Mays on April 2nd, 2005, in Port Canaveral Florida. She graduated from Purdue University in 1994, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While at Purdue University Kim joined the Epsilon Kappa chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. Kim received her master’s degree in computer information systems from the University of Phoenix. Kim accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, East Chicago, In. During her time there, she served as the church secretary for Sunday School and was a member of the Red Circle. In 2007 Michael and Kim joined the New Beginnings Fellowship Church, Indianapolis, In. While there she a member of the Children’s Church ministry. Kim started working at AT&T on February 16th, 1997, in California (Pacific Bell) as a network Planning Engineer. Over the last 26 years, Kim served in various roles such as Application Team Lead, Area Manager of Central Support, Lead Engineering Manager, Sr. Support Technical Analysis, Sr. Software Delivery Project/Program Manager, and most recently Professional Software Engineer. Kim was a very active and committed member of the Network BICP Virtual Indiana Chapter (ERG) where she served as it’s Treasurer for Three years. She was instrumental in helping the chapter get reestablished in Indiana. She was also very active with Toastmasters International where she won several awards. Kimberly J. Mays is preceded in death by her father, Jacob Campbell Sr. Kimberly J. Mays is survived by husband Michael T. Mays, stepson Malcolm Mays, daughter Sophia Mays, Mother Rachel Campbell, sister Sandra Campbell, brother Jacob Campbell Jr, grandson Dommonique Mays, granddaughter Nova Mays, niece Grace Mays, nephew Christopher Campbell, brother-in-law William Mays, father and mother-in-law Curtis and Sarah McPhail, dozens of cousins, friends and loved ones. Visitation will be held at 10:00am Saturday September 23rd, 2023, at New Beginnings Fellowship Church 2125 N. German Church Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00pm Saturday September 23rd, 2023, at New Beginnings Fellowship Church 2125 N. German Church Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229. Dr. James Anthony Jackson of New Beginnings Fellowship Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
