Kenneth Willis Mason, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 6, 2021. Ken was born at home on June 19, 1932 in Fountain Square in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Joseph and Hazel Mason. He was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis and a proud graduate of the Arsenal Technical High School Class of 1950. He was employed for nearly 30 years as a civilian at Ft. Benjamin Harrison and retired in 1988 as chief of the management analysis group. Ken was a longtime member of Bethany Christian Church and served as an elder and choir director for many years. For the past 26 years, Ken and his wife had faithfully attended Sunday worship service at the same VA hospital chapel that his father-in-law had first discovered. Ken was an avid sports fan and especially loved watching professional golf and college basketball, annually looking forward to choosing two NCAA regional March Madness sites to alternately attend. He also was an accomplished bowler and golfer and got his first hole in one at the age of 80. Ken is survived by his wife of 69 ½ years, Jean Mason; son David (Susan) Mason; brother Larry (Donna) Mason; two grandsons Joshua and Christopher Mason; and three great grandchildren Avery, Isaiah, and Hunter Mason. His parents and two brothers, Don and Joe Mason, predecease him. You are welcomed to share fond memories and sign the guestbook at www.familyfuneralcareindy.com. A family gathering and celebration of life is planned and will be presided over by the long time chaplain and friend from the VA chapel.
