Kenneth Wayne Jenkins was born April 2nd, 1957 in Memphis, Tennessee to David and I.V. Jenkins. In 1969, the family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where Kenneth attended schools 26, 42 and Arsenal Technical High School. After graduation in 1975, Kenneth worked in the family landscaping business where he would become a partner in 1977, and eventually the owner of Jenkins Landscaping Service. Kenneth professed a hope in Christ in his early twenties and joined Tabernacle Baptist Church under Reverend Jonathan Bailey, Sr. Kenneth also worked for Indianapolis Public Schools a number of years. In 1984, Kenneth met Lucy Hall and her children. Lucy would become the love of his life, his companion and his wife. Kenneth would become the father of those children and three more children were added to the family; Kena, Kenisha and Kenneth. Kenneth loved his family and was a hard worker. He loved his friends and sports. He loved traveling and making people laugh. He had a great sense of humor and a quick come back. Illness forced Kenneth into retirement, but he had a positive attitude and a fighting spirit. God allowed Kenneth to overcome much suffering and many obstacles. On June 27, 2022, Kenneth departed this life at 65 years, 2 months and 25 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend David Lee Jenkins and I.V. Jenkins Ellis, three brothers; Jerome Middlebrook, Gary Banks and David Yeakey. Kenneth is survived by his wife Lucy Mae Jenkins, 11 children; his first born Maria Jenkins, Albert Hall, Connie Hall, George Jenkins, Daniel LaFlore, Teresa Reese, Linda Walton (Daniel) Shanita Hall, Kena Hall, Kenesha Jenkins and Kenneth Hall. 4 brothers; Robert Blue (Carolyn) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Eddie Jenkins (Michelle) of Indianapolis, Indiana and Cedric Banks (Mary) of Memphis, Tennessee. 5 sisters; Sharon Banks Fallis (Melvin) of Memphis, Tennessee, Phyliss Bright Caples (Lenny) of Memphis, Tennessee, Aqua Bank Woods (Willie) of Memphis, Tennessee, Aqua Yeakey of Indianapolis, Indiana, Angela Yeakey of Indianapolis, Indiana. 33 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Kenneth will be greatly missed by all those whose life he touched.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 9th with viewing from 10AM until 12PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Sanders of Freedom Temple C.O.G.I.C officiating with burial at Crown Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were by Crown Hill Funeral Home. All flowers and memorials are to be sent to Crown Hill Funeral Home.
