Joseph G Kiel
88, passed away Jan. 26, 2013. He was born in Seymour, IN to the late Daniel and Lena Kiel. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruthan, and five brothers. Joseph is survived by sons Gregory (Judy) and Sidney (Chris), and grandchildren Douglas, Brian, and Clayton.
He graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. degree in accounting. Joseph spent 2 ½ years in the Army Infantry in WWII, landing in Normandy 6 days after D-Day. Wounded three times, he received the Purple Heart, two oak leaf clusters and the Bronze Star.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church; the D.A.V. and American Legion. Along with time in the accounting field, Joseph served as a field representative with the Indiana Manufacturers Assn., and finally as the owner of two coin laundries and dry cleaners. Retiring in 1978 he and his wife spent 15 years in Arkansas, and 12 years in Florida, returning to Indianapolis in 2005.
A memorial gathering will take place Wednesday Jan. 30th from 10:00 – 11:30 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church 6630 Southeastern Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46203, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 AM in the church.
