John Alfred Wooden

John Alfred Wooden, age 78, of Avon, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. John was born August 12, 1944 in Fort Benning, Georgia the son of the late John and Lavonne Wooden. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1962. John married Mary F. Miller in 1965 and had 3 children: John G. Wooden, Tamara (Tom) Imel and Rebecca (Scott) Renshaw, siblings: Sandy Gullion, Larry Wooden and Beth Parrish. The family grew further with grandchildren: William Aloisio, Casey Imel, Nicholas Imel, and Oliver Renshaw, and great grandchildren: Layne Carter Spencer and Preston John Aloisio and a host of children and grandchildren adopted by Love. John is preceded in death by his parents: John and Lavonne Wooden, brother: Gary Wooden and a granddaughter: Cesilie Aloisio. John was a machine shop foreman for Noel-Smyser Engineering Corp for 53 years, retiring in 2018. He is a member of Plainfield Christian Church and a former member of Kingsway Christian Church for 35 years. His greatest joy was his family, however, he would find time to enjoy fishing, traveling and was known for his great sense of humor. John was a known jokester even hours before he went to his Lord and Savior. A celebration gathering for John will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Plainfield Christian Church, 800 Dan Jones Rd., Plainfield, Indiana 46168, followed by a celebration of life service at 1:00 PM officiated by Pastor John Caldwell.
