John graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1965 and attended Indiana University-Bloomington for 2 years.
John married Bonnie (Higgins) on April 3, 1971 and they were fortunate to have recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary together. They had 2 children, Christine (Chrissy) and Amanda (Mandy).
John was a salesman of different trades for many years then became a truck driver before his eventual retirement.
In his spare time, John enjoyed watching and playing (when he was younger) all kinds of sports. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports as well. He attended all of their games he possibly could. He loved IU basketball. He liked to play cards and spend time with his friends. He loved the beach and to sightsee. He would drive and take detours just to see different places. His family was his life and loved spending time with them. He loved to spoil his daughters, grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and had no remorse about it. He would take them to DQ or to get slushies any time they asked.
He will always be remembered by his family and friends as a patient and easy-going person. He always had a smile on his face and was loyal, without judgement. He was kind, without expectations, and simply fun to be around. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend you could ever hope for.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John E. Knapp, Sr. (Jack) and Virginia (Ginny).
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughters, Chrissy (husband, Rusty) and Amanda (husband, Andy); grandchildren: Katelyn, Andre, Joshua, Alex, A.J. and Emma; great-granddaughter, Hadleigh; and siblings, Linda, Dan and Barbara.
Due to our world crisis, a celebration of life will be held at a later date so all of John’s family, friends, and loved ones can celebrate and remember the wonderful man John was.
