John Joseph (Joe) Bruno was 89 years old and lived in Indianapolis, Indiana. He passed away on June 8, 2024. Joe was born in Marion, Ohio on December 19, 1934. His parents Salvador John Bruno and Etta Naomi (Benge) Bruno relocated to Indianapolis shortly thereafter.
Joe retired from his lengthy career of over 50 years as a stock broker, most recently as Vice President, Investments at Thurston, Springer, Miller, Herd and Titak , in Indianapolis.
He had a love for cars especially Corvettes. Over the years he owned 16 different ones most recently a 2022 mid-engine model. He was also an avid sports fan of the New York Yankees that he obtained from his grandfather, Joseph Bruno at an early age. He did not miss many games. Additionally, he was a passionate fan of Indiana University Basketball, he said he never missed a game in 40 years, in person, on TV or radio. He was a great couch coach.
Joe received his education at Saint Meinrad Seminary with a Masters of Theology degree.
Joe was a devout Catholic attending church daily. He had a great devotion to Mary and Eucharistic adoration. He enjoyed translating Latin and Greek biblical and mass liturgies.
Joe served his country as an Airman in the Air Force Reserve during the Berlin Crisis.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother and his favorite brother Salvador John (Johnny)Bruno Jr.
Survivors: sister DiAnn (Bruno)Thanas (George) of Sarasota, Florida, brothers Thomas Bruno (Nancy Heavrin Bruno), of Chattanooga, TN., P. Michael Bruno of Hudson, Florida and Charles Bruno (Nanci Orr) of Tampa, Florida.
Funeral arrangements through Leppert Mortuary, Nora chapel Indianapolis, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Luke Catholic Church at 11:30 AM on Monday June 17, 2024. Visitation at the church one hour before the Mass. Burial at St Joseph’s Cemetery Indianapolis.
