93, of Indianapolis, departed this life at home, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 3, 2015. Jane was born November 23, 1921 in Auburn, IN to the late Dr. Dorsey M. and Laura Myrtle (Hornberger) Hines. Jane attended Christian College and Indiana University, where she earned her BA in music in 1943. She worked as a stewardess for American Airlines from 1944 – 1947. Jane would later work in flight administration for American for ten years. Upon retirement in 1985, she moved to Indianapolis. She loved music and was a dedicated member of Second Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of Presbyterian Women, and on the Sage Council. She enjoyed travelling with her friends from church. She was a member of the American Airlines Kiwi Club, WINS – Indianapolis Republican Women in Neighborhood Service -- and a volunteer of the Indianapolis Pan American Games. She is survived by her beloved children, David Walker, Laura (James) Robinson and Diane (Michael) Drew; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She spent her last 40 years enjoying being a part of her grandchildren's lives; calling this time period of her life "the best of times". She was known for her ready smile, and always sought to befriend the person by her side. Jane was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ellen Hines Wells and her former husband, Robert Finley Walker, Jr. Her family members would like to thank Peggy Allen, Ann Kartholl, and Theresa Drew for the love, patience, and tender care they gave her when she needed extra help. Visitation for Jane will begin at 10:00 am on Monday, April 20, 2015, in the parlor, Second Presbyterian Church (7700 North Meridian Street) followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am in the Milner Chapel.
