James K. Lucas

James K. Lucas passed away December 26, 2021 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Jim was born April 10, 1938 in Indianapolis. He was the son of Dale and Alberta (Ball) Lucas. He graduated from Shortridge High School and attended Butler University. Jim and his younger brother Jack often spent their summers with extended family near Salem, Indiana, enjoying the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
In 1960, he married Margaret (Susie) Emrick of Indianapolis and the couple relocated to Fort Wayne. After two decades working for Shumate Business Forms, headquartered in Lebanon, Indiana, Jim was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug and opened The Printing Press in 1988 with the assistance of his son, Robert.
In addition to hunting and fishing, Jim was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed travelling with his family to visit many of the iconic sights in the United States. After nearly 30 successful years as owner of The Printing Press, Jim retired in 2017. His business associates, friends, and family will miss his love of a good joke and cheerful attitude.
Jim is survived by his wife Margaret, sons Brad (Beth) Lucas and Robert Lucas of Fort Wayne, granddaughter Elizabeth Lucas of West Lafayette, Indiana, and brother Jack (Jeane) Lucas of Reno, Nevada.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2022 in the Gothic Chapel at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery of Indianapolis at 1 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association at Alz.org.for the Lucas family.
