IVERY PEARLINE DIXON, 78, made her transition to being with the Lord, Jesus Christ on October 23, 2022. She was born in Cadiz, Kentucky to the union of Maybee and Florence Rogers. She attended school and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in Hopkinsville, KY. At a young age, Ivery relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana where she resided and made her home for the duration of her lifetime.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Corinth Baptist Church in Cadiz, KY. After her relocation to Indianapolis, she united with The Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. F. K.Dillard. She was very active in various ministries, including the Usher Board.
Ivery united in holy matrimony to George (Tony) Dixon III and was married for more than 50 years until he preceded her in death on April 25, 2022. From that union, George Dixon IV was born. She was employed by RCA for many years. After retirement, she became a caregiver with her sisters for their beloved mother, Florence Rogers Smith until her death in 2016.
Later, Ivery united with the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she participated in the hospitality ministries and remained a faithful member until her Pastor Rev. Wayne T. Harris passed. Finally, In 2022, she united with the Loving Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Christopher Mundy Sr.
Ivery was an avid bowler, and card player and loved watching cooking shows. She especially loved watching the old black-and-white shows on ME TV: Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, The Lone Ranger, and Gunsmoke, just to name a few.
She loved to have family gatherings on holidays, or for no special reason. She was happy to be around family. With a big beautiful smile, she often gave her unique commentary and colorful names to people she loved. She also loved flowers, often naming and talking with them. One of her plants named "Donnie" has been living for 45 years.
Ivery departed this life knowing she was loved. Her nephew, Matthew, commented after his visit "What a special blessing when you know, I mean you really know that you are going to see The Lord Jesus Christ and have the privilege to say good-bye to the family, not very many people get that Blessing" Ivery did just that, telling the family, she was ready to go HOME and be with the Lord.
Ivery was preceded in death by her husband, George Dixon, mom and dad, stepfather, Rev. Cecil Smith Sr., and four brothers Trennie Rogers, Cecil Smith Jr., Chris Smith, and Donnie Rogers.
Ivery leaves to cherish the memory of her life: a son, George (Tina) Dixon IV, one granddaughter Annalise Dixon, four sisters, Lurlean "Cookie" Wilson, Lavern (Lee) Crump, Ada (Mike) Hamilton, Rosemary (Keith) Simpson, three brothers Lester (Benda) Rogers, Derek (Joyce) Rogers, Johnny (Debbie) Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, faithful church family, and devoted friends.
A very special thank you to Duane Cobbs, Ivery's nephew, for his assistance in caring for Ivery.
Humbly Submitted The Family
