OBITUARY
Herman "Terry" Townsend Taylor Jr.
21 October, 1962 – 10 October, 2023
IN THE CARE OF
Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery
Mr. Herman “Terry” Townsend Taylor, Jr. was born on October 21, 1962 to Herman Frank Taylor and Mary
Lee (Bridgeforth) Taylor. Terry was an only child.
Terry was the apple of his grandmother Zika Mae Horton’s eye. She nurtured him and saw that he was
taken good care of.
Terry was a graduate of North Central High school and worked primarily as a laborer because of the
disability he had from birth.
He was a faithful volunteer of Light of the World Christian Church food bank and choir. The food bank
volunteers became a part of his family, especially Iris Embry and Frances Johnson, who helped him through
his last illness and treated him like family. Terry was also a lover of all animals.
Terry was proud that his parents were the first African Americans to own two Burger Chef franchises
here in Indianapolis. Both parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by relatives Jessie and Shirley Lynch along with their children, Judge Sheryl Lynch and
Corey Lynch of Indianapolis; as well as with Lelia Smith of Marriette, Georgia, and a host of other
relatives.
A visitation for Herman will be held Friday, October 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Light Of The World Christian Church, 4646 N Michigan Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46228, followed by a celebration of life from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.crownhill.org for the Taylor family.
