Jim was born in Muskegon, MI to Harry and Myrtle Allen. He went to

school in Morton, IL. He married Martha Jane Allen and they would have

celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this December. He worked for

Caterpillar for many years but retired from the Dallas County Sheriff’s

Department. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war where he served in the

Army. In retirement he brought joy to countless people while entertaining as

Santa Claus and singing karaoke for senior communities.

Jim was the beloved husband of Martha Jane Allen, loving father of Jim (the

late Patty) Allen and Julie (Ronald) Essington; cherished papa of Ryan

(Holly) Essington, Jordan (Krista) Allen, Erin Kassing and Joshua Allen;

devoted poppy of Destini, Mikaylah, Jak, Brody, Lilly, Becket, Avila and

Magdelena. As an only child, Jim became an adored brother to his wife’s

siblings: Jeanette, Lane, Linda, Bonnie, Wanda and Robin and was a dear

uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law.

Burial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Crown Hill

Funeral Home and Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to American Heart Association.

The family of Jim wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Paradigm Hospice,

the nursing staff at St. Vincent’s Fishers Hospital and his friends at

Northridge.
