Obituary of Gregory Lawrence Black
Gregory Lawrence Black, 38, was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Indiana and was born at St. Vincent Hospital to Richard and Gwendolyn Black on May 11,1983. Gregory graduated from Pike High School in 2002, where he was active in several activities. He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Berean Baptist Church. He later changed his membership to Greater Northwest Baptist Church. Gregory was an outgoing person and had a passion for serving others. He was employed by Cintas First Aid and Safety as a Service & Sales Representative and was a server at Ted's Montana Grill for many years. Gregory began his love of sports at a young age. He participated in track & field events, was a member of the Westchester Swim Team, wrestled at Lincoln Middle School and played on the Pike Youth Basketball League. His love for sports continued as an adult, he was a NFL Green Bay Packers and University of Kentucky basketball fanatic and would travel to support his favorite teams. Gregory lived a very active life, you could always find him enjoying a variety activities including attending sporting events, traveling, weekends at the lake, supporting his daughters’ and nephew’s events and riding his bicycle to various locations in the city such as Carmel, Fort Harrison, the Monon Trail, and along the Canal in downtown Indianapolis. He committed most of his nights after work to various Circle City Athletics (CCA) activities such as kickball and dodgeball and played several games and even on several teams. Gregory was known as “Gbleeze” to his CCA family. Gregory formed the kickball team, the “Gbleeze Allstars” through CCA as well. Gregory also started his own bowling league through Better off Bowling. He also thoroughly enjoyed live music, enjoyed camping out at music festivals and was an avid Dave Matthews fan. Greg attended The Rock Boat musical cruises annually with close friends, last year he attended his 7th cruise. Gregory valued bringing everyone together to ensure they felt included and were having a good time. His smile and outgoing personality will be missed. Gregory leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Whitney Black, parents Richard and Gwendolyn Black and sister Danielle (Jodie) Lynch, and nephew’s Landon and Isaiah Lynch.
