Grace Harris, 91, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on December 17, 2020 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Grace was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to John Richey and Addie Dishmon on October 8, 1929. She was the 1947 senior class secretary of Crispus Attucks High School and upon graduation went on to attend Ball State University. Grace also studied at the Madame C.J. Walker College of Beauty Culture in the 1960’s. Grace worked for the Army Finance Center and later went on to work for the IRS for 24 years, where she became the first Black female Indiana Revenue Field Officer.
As an avid bowler, she often spent her free time at the Jubilee Bowling Alley for Seniors. Grace was a kind, classy, and conservative woman with a heart of Gold. Undoubtedly, she had a passion for life and an unwavering love for family and friends.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents and ex-husband, Raymond Harris. She is survived by her brother, John Richey, and sisters, Lynnette Price, Karen Richey, Nicole Coleman, and her cousin Deborah Sims, who resided with her. A host of relatives in Indianapolis, Indiana; Detroit, Michigan; and Louisville, Kentucky are also left to cherish her memory.
Interment will be private on December 31st at the Crown Hill Cemetery.
