Obituary of Eloise H. Kibler
Eloise H. Akin Kibler, 103, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away November 14, 2024. She was born January 20, 1921 in Indianapolis to E. Park and Helen Sauer Akin. She is survived by her children Ellen (Nick) Jose and Thomas W. Kibler; four grandchildren Zephaniah Kibler, Amy (Eric) Duncan, Sarah (Matthew) Morrow, and Nicholas (Corey) Jose; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her late husband Thomas F. Kibler, son James P. Kibler, and brother Robert Akin. Eloise graduated St. Joan of Arc Grade School and St. Agnes High School and attended Butler University. She married her childhood sweetheart, Thomas F. Kibler just before he joined the Navy to fight in World War II. She was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and later by the Claypool Dress Shop. Over the years, she was involved in many volunteer activities including Immaculate Heart of Mary Women’s Club, St. Luke Catholic Church, and St. Vincent Hospice. While raising children she served as a Girl Scout troop leader, and volunteered to help with her children’s extracurricular activities. Eloise loved life. She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, and entertaining. She was a dedicated member of a Wednesday Bridge Group and Monday Borky Babes. Eloise’s source of strength was her Catholic faith. She attended daily mass and was a regular visitor to the Adoration Chapel as long as she was physically able. She had a loving heart and was committed to her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and “Big Grandma.” She never tired of serving others. She often ministered to her friend’s needs before her own by visiting them, taking them to lunch, and driving them to appointments until declining eye sight forced her to give up her car at age 98. Visitation and rosary will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the St. Augustine Home Chapel, 2345 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260 and on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Drive East, Indianapolis, IN 46260 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eloise’s memory may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 2345 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260. (https://littlesistersofthepoorindianapolis.org)
