Edward Joseph Milligan
90, of Indianapolis, departed this life October 7, 2014. He was born September 9, 1924 in Lackawanna, NY to the late John Pendry and Evelyn (LaVelle) Milligan. Ed proudly served his country during World War II with the United States Army as a Combat Engineer (Dixie Division) in the Pacific Theatre. He worked as a metallurgical engineer for Western Electric for 20 years, retiring in 1986. He was a long time member of Little Flower Catholic Church, and VFW Post 2985, and recently a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Ed loved the outdoors, and enjoyed bird watching, family adventures and was involved with various scout groups over the years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Jo Ann Gallagher Milligan; children, Patrick Milligan, Michael Milligan, Marcia Kosinski, Daniel Milligan, Theresa (Jonathan) Madden and Marie Martin; grandchildren, Alex, Lauren and Megan Martin, James Milligan, Celeste Milligan Reyna and Andrew and Christopher Madden. Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Milligan and brother, John Patrick Milligan. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 12th in Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary . Funeral services begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 13th in the mortuary followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Little Flower Catholic Church. Interment follows in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
