Dave was born on August 8, 1955, in Battle Creek, Michigan to parents Louis and Constance (Saxton) Wensloff.
He was the beloved husband of Gerri A. Wensloff, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage. Dave was a loving father, leaving his five daughters to carry on his memory. He is survived by his children Susan (Daryl) Jones, Christina (Adam) Shankel, Kelly (Morgan) Smedley, Kathryn (Daniel) Crawford, and Jamie (Sean) Donelson. Left to cherish the memory of their loving grandfather are Abby, Alex, Zavier, Zoe, Lily, Mason, Noah, Eleanor, Judah, Evelyn, and Avery.
He loved to ride his Honda Goldwing, especially in the mountains and deserts of Arizona. Dave was a collector of many things, but his favorite collections were oil lamps, pocketknives, guns, yoyos, pocket watches, and most recently, kaleidoscopes. He had restored a Volkswagen Beetle as well as many bicycles, which he would give away at Christmas time.
Dave worked a wide variety of different jobs throughout his life, including selling cars at Sweeney Motors, driving school and Trailways buses, warehouse manager at both Rehab Resource and Asset Recycling, and for the Hammerwest Program, where he enjoyed teaching at-risk participants the skills of rehabbing homes.
His proudest accomplishments were being a devoted husband, world’s best Dad, and an adoring grandfather. His family, children, and grandchildren were his pride and joy, becoming his main priority in his later years. A highlight in his life was watching his daughters graduate from college and marry wonderful men who would go on to become exceptional fathers to his cherished grandchildren.
Dave’s family hopes that he is remembered for how he loved his family, his dogs, his generosity and ability to always be kind to others.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Family Funeral Care.
