Obituary of Carol Yvonne Baker
Carol Yvonne Baker, born to the late Elmer and Theodosia Davis, was blessed with life on May 16th 1940, in Indianapolis Indiana. She was educated in the Indianapolis Public School system, and attended Arsenal Tech High School. She married the late Harry C Jackson, and to that union came one daughter, the late Carla Yvonne Jackson. That union was short-lived. Later in life, she met and married the late Robert L Baker. Three children were born to that union, being Bryon Baker, Donna Baker-Coe, and Aaron Baker (Deidra). Carol professed her love for the Lord, and was saved at an early age. Throughout life, she was affiliated with, Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 25th Street Baptist Church, Greater Gethsemane Baptist Church, and Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. All are located in Indianapolis Indiana. Carol lived life one day at a time, and she enjoyed all that she liked and loved. That included family gatherings, outings with friends, watching her westerns on television, shopping, and cooking. She was best known for her mixed greens and corn pudding! Easily deemed as Carol's most notable life act, she was given the honor of being designated Stool Mother to African Queen Mother Mashariki Jywanza, her second oldest niece. Professionally, she worked several years as an assembler at Western Electric, Indianapolis Power & Light Company, and retiring as a staffer with the Indiana Department of Labor. She also modeled for Cardie King Castle, a local modeling agency, prior to her second marriage. Along with her three children, Carol leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Tiffany Freeman, Nadyah Baker, Naima Cruz, Isaiah Baker, Myles Baker, and Davis Baker, three great granddaughters, seven great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would also like to acknowledge her best buddy, Miss Bea! Carol went home to be with the Lord on April 23rd, 2023. She will be greatly missed. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.crownhill.org for the Baker family.
