Obituary of Bernard Paul Langenbacher
Bernard P. Langenbacher, 92, of Indianapolis passed away peacefully on January 20, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born May 12, 1921 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of Burt and Catherine Langenbacher. Bernard was a photo engraver with Ropkey Engraving for 34 years and then with Indianapolis Rubber Stamp before retiring in 1994, at age 74. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and graduated from Cathedral High School. Bernard is a WW II Army Air Corp. veteran. He was a bombardier in the 305th Bombing group flying in a B-17, on January 1, 1945 his plane was shot down over East Germany where he was a POW until the liberation of Germany by Gen. Patton’s 2nd Armored Division. Bernard was an avid tennis player and a photography enthusiast. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years: Agnes Langenbacher, daughters: Linda (Alfred) Bellezza and Helen (Mark) Miles sons: Matthew and Mark Langenbacher, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Celia Douglas and Mary Louise White and his brother: James N. Langenbacher. Visitation will be Thursday, January 23, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary. Funeral service will be Friday, January 24, 9:30 am at the mortuary with a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am in Holy Spirit Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to I.U.
