Obituary of Barbara Joan Glenn
Beloved and cherished Mother and Grandmother... You gave so much love and inspiration to your family and taught us how to do the same. You took a piece of our hearts with you but left a part of yours with each of us in return. Someday we will be together again and our hearts will be full. Until then remember, as always, we love you and GBWU. Barbara Joan Glenn, age 95, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023. Barbara was born April 4, 1927 in Indianapolis to Alfred and Nellie Greig. She attended grade school at St. Philip Neri and graduated from St. Agnes Academy in 1945. After high school, she attended Butler University, where she graduated in 1949. Barbara retired from Ford Motor Company - English Ave Plant in 1982. She retired as an Hourly Personnel Representative. Prior to retiring from that position, she began her career at Ford as a switchboard operator and a receptionist. Later in her career, she held the title of Executive Secretary for the Plant Engineering, Manufacture Engineering and Quality Control. She also worked in additional departments of the plant as needed. Barbara was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was also a member of FOP Lodge 86, where she was employed briefly and then volunteered. She was presented with the Life Member Gold Card through the FOP Lodge 86. Barbara was also an honorary member of the FOP Retired Police Officers Association. She was also a member of the American Legion Aux. #0034, Knights of Columbus - Kennington Post, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 17, Women of the Moose Chapter 11, Our Lady of Fatima Council 3228 and Paddock Homeowners Association. For 11 years, she was an Oasis Tutor in Warren Township, her last assignment was at Lowell Elementary. While employed at Ford Motor Company, she was an Advisor for the Junior Achievement Program. Barbara will be remembered as Mom and Grandma Barbara to most people. She never met a stranger and was adopted by many. Barbara loved animals and volunteered at a veterinary office. Her beloved canine companion, Irish, kept her company the last 17 years. Barbara will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Rogers (Michael); step-son, Robert Glenn (Cecile Carre); grandchildren, Stacey Walker, Evan Walker, Michelle Rogers (Elliott Donham), Vincent Rogers, Amanda Rogers, Wendy Tibbetts (Jamie), Abigail Wojahn (Jesse), Shannon Odiet (Wendi), Kara Stuer (Shaun), Lauren Lagman (Mark); nephew, James Greig (Lynda); special friend, Susan Parnell; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Nellie Greig; husband, Captain John T. Glenn; children, Fred M. Odiet, William P. Newman, Stephen E. Newman and Pamela Odiet; granddaughter, Katie Newman; grandson, Michael Rogers; and brothers, Alfred F. Greig, Jerome P. Greig and James W. Greig. A visitation for Barbara will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Feeney Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N. Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis IN 46219. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 8:30 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 E. 10th St, Indianapolis, IN 46219. Burial will follow at Holy Cross St. Joseph Cemetery, 2446 S Meridian St, Indianapolis, IN 46225. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 86 – Retired Police Officers Association, 1585 Shelby Street, Indianapolis, IN 46203.
