Tony was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on December 5, 1955 and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana at a young age with his Mother and Brother. He graduated from Crispus Attucks High School and later received his certification as a CNC machinist. Tony was known as a hard worker who loved his job and was on his way to retirement after 26 years with Rolls-Royce of North America. He previously worked at Methodist Hospital and Wave-Tech.
Tony was a big sports fan and dedicated many evenings attending his children’s practices and games, even coaching little league baseball at St. Albans. Moreover, he loved watching and attending sporting events supporting the Colts, Pacers and the Indiana Fever where he and his Wife Paula were season ticket holders. As an avid golfer, he was a member of the Ole’ Dudes Golf Club and enjoyed playing in the annual summer golf league at South Grove Golf Course in Riverside.
Tony was a car fanatic and really appreciated the beauty of an automobile and the rush of loud engines. For years he would bring his kids to drag car races, monster truck rallies, until present day he frequented local car shows and conventions. Tony owned multiple automobiles over the years but most recently could be seen around Indianapolis in his yellow Corvette with the license plate reading “Oooweee”.
Tony enjoyed spending his pastime in the comforts of his home with an occasional cigar and watching news programs, and all types of movies with his couch companion Maltese Shih-Tzu Teddy. He also loved taking road trips for family vacations and visiting his children, grandchildren and friends across the country. When not visiting, Tony spoke to his children and grandchildren daily just to say hello and let them know he loved them.
Tony loved the Lord and professed his faith while a member of Light of the World Christian Church and later moved his membership to Eastern Star Church.
Tony leaves to cherish his loving and dedicated Wife Paula, his Sons Anthony (AJ) Allen (Atlanta, GA); Antoine (Chicago, IL); Jamar (Charlotte, NC); his loving Stepdaughter, Janeille (Dedry) Johnson (Atlanta, GA); Stepson Dana L. Howard, II (Indy). Four Grandchildren: Laila, Tre, Princeton and his newborn Grandson Kameron (Atlanta, GA).
Tony was preceded in death by his Mother, Mary Smith and Brother, James Smith.
